Primarily, the objective of Jesus’ teachings was not only that something might be produced in us, but, also, that something would come out of us. However, we cannot produce without the juice of God’s vital, life giving word which supplies a productive capacity within us.
Jesus has a word for us in John 15:5, “I am the vine, you are the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit; for without me you can do nothing”. This life giving flow of the word of God empowers us to produce that good word of the Divine Nature and eternal life within us for the benefit of others.
Should we fall away in disobedience and hardness of heart, and begin to pursue dead works of our own design, we separate ourselves from the “juice” of His word; and become unfruitful. Let us consistently strive to abide in Christ. Without Him our lives would be void, we can only look to be cast aside and withered. But, with the juice of God’s word, we should expectantly look to produce and bring forth fruit in abundance.
