Persons who say they believe in the truth of God, yet fail show compassion and minister to those in need, are simply deceivers of themselves. The truth of God compels us to demonstrate love and hospitality to all persons, especially those of the household of faith.
John’s Third Epistle, verse 4, proclaims, “I have no greater joy than this: to hear that my children are living according to the truth”. That truth may be summed up in James’ exhortation, 1:22, “But be you doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves”.
The truth of God means doing what Jesus, who is the truth, would do. We demonstrate our faithfulness to the truth by putting off the things for self to minister life, service, and care to others.
