Far too many Christians are unable or find it difficult to walk in faith simply because their mindset is one of sin consciousness. Continually learning sin and making ourselves aware of sin can only result in the self fulfilling prophecy of committing sin. Making for ourselves an excuse of human weakness and imperfection holds us in the grip of sin; loosing our sin consciousness empowers us to live according to the righteousness obtained for us by Jesus Christ.
Losing sin consciousness requires that we sincerely appropriate the redemptive work that Christ has effected on our behalf. We should constantly be reminded of II Corinthians 5:21, ” He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of god in Him “. Every law given to keep us from sin will never be broken by the believer who walks in this righteousness.
Romans 8:1, declares, ” There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus…”. Faith cannot grow in an atmosphere of condemnation; a sin conscious environment will breed weak and ineffectual faith. If we fail to affirm our love for our family and friends about us, that love ebbs and goes cold; we must continually affirm our love if we expect to maintain loving fellowship. In like manner, we loose our sin consciousness by constantly affirming our confidence in Christ, His righteousness, and God’s ability in us. These are the affirmations which cause our faith to grow.
