Christians must realize that what we have in Christ is not simply a doctrine, nor theological expression of relationship. The Epistle of I Peter 2:24, assures the power of Jesus’ gift of righteousness is real in its application to daily life. Stating, “Who his own self bare our sins in his body on the tree, that we being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness…”. God’s gift is a real righteousness that rules the powers of darkness.
Jesus righteousness has been imputed to us, and gives us authority and ability to act in His place. Through faith, we are walking in Divine nature and life: having no sin consciousness, we take our place as fearless rulers over Satan’s old order.
According to I Thessalonians 2:13, God is at work in us building His word into our spirit, empowering us to become God like in our thinking and in our works. We are bold and confident sons and daughters without guilt or shame in the presence of our Father, having His righteousness, and taking the rule over the powers of darkness which have been destroying the human race.
We are confident because we have responded in love to the loving gift of Jesus who promised in John 14:23, “If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him”. If God the Father, and God His Son is in you, if they are righteous, then you are righteous. No devil in hell can assail you, no sickness can destroy you, no trouble can defeat you. Indeed, you have become a ruler over all the powers of darkness.
