Both sickness and sin originate from the same source, that is from Satan, our adversary. Since we understand that Satan has been defeated and has no more dominion over us, let us live assured that Christians are freed from sickness and freed from sin.
Our healing and deliverance stand sure on God’s word in Isaiah 53:6, ” All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way, and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all”; and in the tenth verse, “he has made him sick”. Jesus was spiritually stricken for our sickness and sins. In the fourth verse of this chapter we find that He surely bore our sicknesses and disease.
Sickness and sin afflict the human race, and God’s heart is to get rid of everything that mars His image. When God states that “by His stripes, we are healed”, it is a declaration which grants us freedom from sickness, it is our bill of rights that disease and sin shall not have dominion over us.
Christians should keep in mind Romans 6:14, “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace”. Holding also I John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. Keeping these promises near to our heart, we come to God with all our diseases, understanding they were all laid on Christ.
Seeing that sickness and sin were laid on Christ, we have no need or obligation to bear them. The adversary has no right to place any disease on you, since Jesus has carried them for you. Simply confess “by His stripes I am healed”.
Christians can be just as free from sickness as we are freed from the dominion of sin. God has made a perfect provision for our healing. None of us need suffer or be afflicted by the attack of the enemy because we have complete deliverance through the redemptive work of Christ.
