We have heard the joyful sound, in the biblical report, of angels announcing the birth of Christ, and looked over the pastoral hills to view only lowly shepherds coming to worship Him. While those entrusted with the oracles of God remained antagonistic or unconcerned, wise men from the east came to worship. Today wise men and women will still seek to worship Christ.
What wisdom is it that instigates and inspires believers to worship Christ? Paul says, in I Corinthians 2:7, “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory”. That is, it is God’s wise plan made for our benefit, to bring us to the glories of heaven.
Worship, then, is our connection with heaven; it is the portal of entry to the God of heaven where we give unto Him all of our love through body, mind, soul, and spirit. Worship is not merely an expression of the honor and glory due to Christ and our God, but also, the complete devotion of ourselves to Him.
With Godly wisdom, men and women should count it a special joy and privilege to hear the call to worship Christ. Wise men and women should never fail to worship Christ, for although not a prerequisite for salvation, it is evidence of your salvation, affirming that God is your God, and that you are a child of God. Is Christ your wisdom? Then, heed His call to worship.
