I Want To Remain In The River
I want to remain in the river
Flowing freely, raging rapidly
Carving out rocky smooth monuments
to my passing presence
Stirring inspirational songs
in the silence of shifting streams.
I want to remain in the river
Poured into only from source divine
Drawing along through power, affect and beauty
all that would hinder my course to open sea
Giving place to such varied, teeming life
positing survival upon abundant banks.
I want to remain in the river
Unrestrained, carefree, rolling on
Sure in purpose, which can never be defeated
although thousands rise to block my victory
Remaining calm, in water washed countenance
the face of God may be seen in me.
